Protecting Your Pet from Fleas and Ticks

Fleas and Ticks can be a big problem in the home. No matter how clean your home is or how well you care for your pet there is always a chance they can catch fleas unless you treat them regularly.

Where do fleas come from?

Fleas can come from other animals whilst out on walks or out exploring. They are easily transferred from on animal to another. Flea eggs can also survive in furniture or carpets so it is important you break the cycle and kill the eggs too.

How to check for fleas and ticks?

If you notice your pet scratching a lot its best to examine the coat for fleas.

Fleas are dark in colour and can be hard to spot in dark coats.

Flea dirt can also be detected, look for black specks in the coat.

We often suggest to put a white towel under your pet and comb through the coat, if you spot black specks it’s best to investigate further.

How to treat fleas?

We advise to see your local vet if your pet has fleas.

The treatment will kill both eggs and fleas and the break the cycle

however you will need to treat your home if your pet is indoors and on furniture.
